Woke resolutions recognizing “Nashville Pride Month” and calling for increased gun control laws highlight the Nashville Metro Council agenda for its June 7 meeting.
RS2022-1581 is a resolution “recognizing Wednesday, June 1 to Thursday, June 30, 2022 as the ‘Nashville Pride Month’, celebrating the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer communities and their enormous contributions to the quality of life in Nashville and Davidson County, and further recognizing the 34th anniversary of the first Nashville Pride event.”
It is sponsored by Councilmembers Brett Withers, Russ Bradford, Nancy VanReece, Emily Benedict, Zach Young, and Joy Styles.
RS2022-1580, sponsored by Councilmembers Joy Styles, Dave Rosenberg, Tanaka Vercher, Bob Mendes, Jeff Syracuse, Colby Sledge, Kathleen Murphy, Mary Carolyn Roberts, Ginny Welsch, Sharon Hurt, Courtney Johnston, Gloria Hausser, Freddie OConnell, Burkley Allen, Tonya Hancock, Sandra Sepulveda, Kyonzte Toombs, Larry Hagar, Zulfat Suara, Bob Nash, Brandon Taylor, and Delishia Porterfield, presumes to be a resolution, “remembering the victims of the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.”
It accomplishes that in part, saying, “The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as remembering the lives of the 21 people killed in the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, including 19 children and 2 teachers.”
However, the resolution appears to be an excuse or vehicle to call for more anti-Second Amendment legislation.
In one section it says:
WHEREAS, the United States has more mass shootings than any other country in the world. While other countries have mental illness, domestic violence, and hateful ideologies that can lead to violence, our easy access to guns makes mass shootings possible and inevitable; and
WHEREAS, stricter gun laws that curb access to guns would definitively result in fewer mass shootings. A majority of Americans agree that gun laws should be stricter in the United States.
In another, it says, ” The Metropolitan Council further goes on record as supporting stricter gun laws that will keep guns out of the wrong hands.”
RS2022-1556, is a bond resolution “authorizing the issuance, sale, delivery and payment of one or more series of general obligation improvement bonds in an aggregate principal amount of not to exceed $650,000,000; and providing for the levy of ad valorem taxes for the payment of debt service on the bonds.”
It is sponsored by Councilmember Burkley Allen.
Another bond resolution, RS2022-1557, is another resolution sponsored by Burkley Allen, “authorizing the issuance of not to exceed two hundred and ninety million ($290,000,000) in aggregate principal amount of interfund tax anticipation notes of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee.”
The ordinance setting the Metro budget for Fiscal Year 2023 is also on the agenda on public hearing. Other issues dealing with contracts, zoning, grants acceptance, and fiscal expenditures are on the agenda as well.

So they are collecting tax revenue by the truckload and they are proposing more? Nashville has the highest hotel tax in country, tourist tax $$$ flowing in relentlessly, property $$$ sales at the highest ever and these clowns want more.
I really wish the fake talking heads on TV and Radio would highlight the utter corruption and incompetence in Nashville politics. Instead of claiming to live in Nashville (really Franklin) and how great it is to be in a bastion of conservativism.
I am proud to be a heterosexual. When will I have a month set aside to honor me?
